Good Afternoon Tiger Family:

DHEC recently updated its guidance and recommendations for quarantining students and staff.

If an unvaccinated/vaccinated student or staff member is determined to have been in contact with someone with COVID-19, they do not have to quarantine at home but can continue attending school as long as they do not have symptoms and must wear a mask for 10 days.

The district will adhere to these new guidelines and implement the test to stay program, which reduces the number of children in quarantine and keeps more eligible for in-person learning.  The program allows rapid tests to be performed on K-12 students who have been exposed to a COVID-19 infected person. Rather than immediately moving close contacts to quarantine, the program allows those students to stay in the classroom if they test negative between day five and seven and are not experiencing symptoms.
