This event will be held in the gym is open to all students and their families, but everyone over the age of three must pay to enter. During Board Member Appreciation Month, we proudly recognize Ms. Catherine Russell for her outstanding leadership and dedicated service. As Board Chairman, Ms. Russell has served our district for 10 years, providing steady guidance and a strong voice for our schools. She is widely known as a champion for the community, having previously served with the Allendale County Sheriff’s Department as a victim’s advocate. We thank Ms. Russell for her unwavering service and the positive impact she continues to make in our district and community.

Yesterday, our principals and coaches at AFES hosted a reading and comprehension workshop to support our scholars as they prepare for state testing. Students strengthened key skills such as making inferences and drawing conclusions to better understand the purpose of a text. Each grade level received targeted instruction tailored to their learning needs, ensuring no child was left behind. To encourage engagement and confidence, students who read aloud or answered questions correctly were rewarded with prizes for their participating.
Our Board Members play a critical role in shaping policies, guiding progress, and strengthening our schools. Ms. Chasity Meyers has served for 5 years and continues to make a meaningful impact in our district. She is a multifaceted leader who generously contributes her skills and time to our community. Allendale County Schools is now hiring for a Head Varsity Football Coach! We are seeking a strong leader with excellent communication skills who is passionate about mentoring student-athletes. Candidates must hold a valid South Carolina teaching certificate and be eligible to serve as a behavior specialist, teacher, or counselor. Please submit your application by February 11th to be considered!
Our students are preparing to honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. tomorrow evening at 6:00 PM in the AFES Gymnasium. The MLK Jr. Oratory Competition celebrates Dr. King’s legacy while strengthening our students’ public speaking skills. Families and community members are encouraged to attend and show their support. The evening will also feature a special performance by our Steel Drum Band, so don’t miss it!

This month, we celebrate the Board Members whose leadership contributes to the continued growth and success of our district. Ms. Farrah Maner has served for two years, bringing pride, passion, and a genuine commitment to our community.
