Let’s recognize our students at AFES who were named February Students of the Month for embodying our character word, compassion. This month is all about spreading love and kindness, and each of these students does just that. It is important that we show empathy and care during instruction, activities, and throughout lunch and recess. We are so proud of our students for leading with compassion and inspiring others to do the same!

Our ASPIRE Academy students and youth mentoring groups enjoyed an exciting field trip to Savannah State University! They explored the campus, got a glimpse of college life, and shared lunch at Carey Hilliard’s. Experiences like this help our students envision their futures, recognize the opportunities ahead, and stay motivated to make positive choices, earn strong grades, and work toward their goals. We appreciate Dr. Scott and Dr. Miller for planning and chaperoning the trip and giving our students this moment.

We were excited to honor our parents and teachers who really stood out this month. Lindsey Johnson, a parent at our high school, and Dawn Heyward, an AFES parent, were celebrated for always being eager to attend events and help out. We also recongized Mrs. Budhu from our elementary school for being a knowledgable and dynamic teacher. Mrs. Russell-Morrison, our business teacher at AFHS, recently helped her students earn certificates for soft skills and Everfi training.

As part of their commitment to integrity and the best interests of our schools and students, each board member is required to sign the Ethical Principles each year. This signature serves as a promise to work for the betterment of public education and to govern with righteousness and fairness. It reflects their dedication to ethical leadership, transparency, and accountability. We are grateful for their continued devotion to serving our district with honesty and diligence.

In 2026, we hope to involve our students even more in our board/community meetings. Last night, we enjoyed a special performance by the AFMHS Chorus, including a song dedicated to our board members in honor of Board Appreciation Month. We also heard the Pledge of Allegiance led by Skyler Moore, a student at Allendale-Fairfax Elementary School. We truly value the presence and talents our students bring to these meetings and look forward to welcoming even more in the future!

Our Superintendent Dr. Cave has joined the challenge! Here is what AI generated as a caricature of Dr. Cave based on everything the platform knows about her. We'd say it was spot on and great depiction of what our superintendent and district is all about. Children and academics come first ,and people drive everything we do.
