This morning, Seth Laton and Juwann Barnwell joined our daily book club and chose to read Building a StoryBrand 2.0 and True Grit. The first book emphasizes that you should never assume people automatically understand how your brand can impact their lives. As an entrepreneur, it's essential to clearly define your brand’s purpose and promote it consistently. “Hard work will never go out of style” — a quote from True Grit — resonated deeply with our student, Mr. Barnwell. Both books sparked powerful insights and meaningful discussion. We're excited to continue exploring new reads and growing our book club along the way!

We appreciate the South Carolina State Football team for stopping by to speak with our players. Coach Howard was scouting for Class of 2026 athletes. He invited our players to attend their Chennis Berry Football Prospect Camp. His visit alone gave our team the motivation to keep grinding and practicing, so that we can continue elevating our game and stay ready for opportunities like this. We’re grateful for the exposure and encouragement — it means a lot to our athletes to see that hard work truly pays off. Thank you again, Coach Howard and the SC State Football team!

Our Chief Financial Officer, Mrs. Grant, provided a detailed overview of the preliminary budget and outlined potential cost-saving strategies to help sustain our district’s financial health. We appreciate everyone who attended and look forward to continued collaboration as we finish the school year strong.

Coach Lewis and several of our football players recently attended the Palmetto Combine, where nearly 250 schools competed. One of our very own athletes, Zamal Ellison, achieved the highest vertical jump of 40.5 inches! This is a major accomplishment, especially considering that our small, rural school earned a title among such strong competition. We can’t wait to see how our football program continues to prosper!

Our new football coach, Mr. Lewis, has been making great strides and launching new initiatives since his arrival. One of his recent efforts includes starting a weekly book club, where students read books and share their favorite quotes. This week, Luther Smoaks read Old School Grit and chose a quote about making every effort to do what we love. Meanwhile, Joy Bennett read Developing the Leaders Around You and learned that the quality of your work is more important than the recognition you may—or may not—receive.
