Allendale County Schools

We will have a 2-hour delayed start on Monday, January 26th due to the storm that occurred over the weekend. The elementary school will start at 9:30 am, middle school and high school will start at 10:15am. All after-school programs and athletic activities will be cancelled until further notice. We understand this may cause inconvenience for families. However, the safety of our students and staff remains our top priority. Please ensure that all students are dressed appropriately for the weather as temperatures are expected to reach below 30 degrees. Continue to monitor local news outlets and our official social media channels for the latest weather updates. We appreciate your patience and understanding, as these decisions are never taken lightly and are made only when recommended by the Allendale Emergency Management Team.

Our second District Strategic and High School Continuous Planning Meeting was productive. We took a deep dive on multiple areas in our district and created a plan for how we can address challenges. Administrators and teachers collaborated to share their valuable perspectives and insights, allowing us to create innovative and effective solutions. We look forward to the positive impact this work will bring.

Music can take you places, and our AFMHS Chorus is headed to NYC! Support our Fill My Note fundraiser to help our students experience a once in a lifetime chorus trip. Families we are still anticipating the impending weather. As a precautionary measure, students will be taking home district issued devices and support meals in the event we resort to an E-learning day. The Board Meeting scheduled for Monday, January 26th has been postponed until February 2nd due to the storm expected to impact our region this weekend. Please note that the delay of the Board Meeting does not indicate a decision regarding school on Monday. At this time, no determination has been made about school operations. We value instructional time and will only resort to E-learning if absolutely necessary to ensure the safety of our students and staff. An update regarding Monday’s schedule will be provided Sunday afternoon after we receive the latest and most accurate update from our Allendale Emergency Management Team.

Congratulations are in order for Superintendent Dr. Vallerie Cave! She was honored by Voorhees College at their MLK Community Breakfast. Her dedication to education and leadership in the community are what led her to be selected for this award. She was recognized amongst eight other change makers for her impact and commitment.

Big dreams start with small notes! The Fill My Note fundraiser is an opportunity to support our AFMHS Chorus students as they prepare for their trip to NYC. Each donation helps reduce costs for students and enriches their creative journey. We’re grateful we can count on our community to help make this trip possible. Join us for an inspiring evening, our annual MLK Jr. Oratory Competition. The event will be held next Thursday at 6:00 PM in the AFES Gym. Students will showcase their public speaking skills while honoring Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. This purpose event encourages our students by instilling confidence, creativity, and courage. Come support our scholars as they deliver impactful speeches.

Join us on January 29th at 6PM in the AFES Gymnasium as our students take the stage for the MLK Jr. Oratory Competition. Scholars will deliver powerful speeches honoring the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. There will also be a performance by our Steel Drum Band.
