Our Elementary School celebrated Black History Month with a vibrant and nuanced program that followed slavery, segregation, and freedom. Our students performed skits depicting Rosa Parks and the Alabama Bus Boycott, as well as Harriet Tubman and her journey via the Underground Railroad. Our Dance Troupe performed an inspirational dance and there was a thoughtful monologue by Patricia Johnson. This yearly tradition reminds us of the sacrifices and struggles of our ancestors, the triumphs and victories of our predecessors, and the responsibilities and privileges we have today.
