Let's keep our Tigers uplifted as they get ready to travel to Wagener-Salley on Friday, September 12th at 7:30 PM. Our boys have made immense progress and we are proud of the efforts and dedication they have showed this season. If you are unable to travel to the game, send your words of encouragement and wish them best of luck! We look forward to seeing them return to our home field on September 19th for our Homecoming Game vs C.A. Johnson.

Get your dough ready to support our AFMHS Chorus and their 2026 trip to New York! For $16 you will receive a dozen of glazed donuts that will go towards expenses for the field trip. They will be accepting orders until September 26th and donuts will be delivered on October 1st. Please support our Choral Program, as we are on a mission to help them raise funds so they can enjoy a magical time in the big city!

Our Grandparents Day Parade was a huge success! We had an amazing turnout of grandparents who came to celebrate and support our students. The kids were just as eager to see their grandparents, and the air was filled with excitement, love, and pride. Thank you to everyone who joined us and organized this event. Grandparents, you truly make a difference in our students’ lives, and today was a beautiful reminder of the impact you have!

Grandparents, don't forget that tomorrow morning a 9:00 AM we will have drive thru parade to honor you! Please line up at our football field at 8:50 AM. There will be light refreshments available in our cafeteria after the conclusion of the parade. We cannot wait to see your decorated vehicles and personalized posters!

Each month we hold Executive Cabinet Meetings with each of our department leaders to ensure communication and promote collaboration. After a brief and personal inspirational moment, each department shared updates about ongoing and completed projects. Our main focus right now are our facility updates and technology upgrades as we continue to improve our district's operations. We also reviewed our data from last year's testing, celebrating our progress and marking areas of growth.

Parents we are excited to announce the return of our Parenting Partners Program! We invite you to join us virtually for our workshops beginning September 24th on Wednesdays and Thursdays at 6:00 PM. The first session will discuss positive ways we can parent, followed by a class on how we can instill confidence in our children. These lessons are free of charge and invaluable to you and your child, so we encourage you to come! Don't forget parents that attend all six sessions will be invited to our graduation ceremony on October 23rd.

Happy Grandparents Day! Today we honor the wisdom, love, and joy you bring to our lives! We want to thank all of the grandparents who showed up to our Grits for Grandparents event at AFMHS. The event was truly special watching our students connect with their loved ones and learn more about their history as they completed their family tree. Grandparents, know that you are cherished and hold an integral role in each of your families.

This week's Mindful Moment is a tutorial on the bubble breathing technique. This method is very calming as it helps to slow down our heart rate. Check it out at: https://youtu.be/jaF6OVSezbM

AFES is off to a fun start! Our elementary school hosted their first PBIS event for students to encourage good behavior. Each grade level engaged in a friendly competition reciting their own chants. The gym was filled was screams, laughs, and smiles as the everyone cheered and danced.

Today, Dr. Miller led another round of Substitute Training for our newest group of substitutes! This training equips them with the knowledge and insight needed to effectively manage a classroom in a teacher’s absence. It also includes our district-mandated Mindset Training, which focuses on peaceful and effective de-escalation strategies. We are grateful for their commitment and excited to welcome them to our team!

Grandparents, we cannot wait to see and celebrate you tomorrow! Our Grits for Grandparents breakfast begins at 8:30 AM in the AFMHS cafeteria. We look forward to honoring your legacy and spending time with you. Come enjoy a hot breakfast while connecting with your scholar!
